1. Purpose
This Code of Ethics outlines the principles and standards that guide our editorial team in producing trustworthy, accurate, and ethical content. As we investigate, report, and expose wrongdoing, we commit to upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity. This code shall apply to all journalistic output from our website, including but not limited to the main news feed, articles on the wiki, and pages on the site.
2. Core Journalistic Principles
Wokebane’s primary role will be to expose the patterns of harassment, truth manipulation, and indoctrination of the modern trans cult for historical documentation and to educate people on how to protect themselves from it. As we will be taking on a journalistic and archival role, this section outlines our ethical guidelines regarding our reporting (articles) and archiving (wiki).
2.1 Seek Truth and Report It
- Verify facts before publication.
- Attribute information to credible sources.
- Avoid distortion, exaggeration, or omission.
- Our site is biased by design—that is its purpose and will affect what we choose to cover. However, attempts will be made to provide full context for stories we report on to avoid lying by omission.
2.2 Act Independently
- Avoid conflicts of interest or disclose them clearly.
- Do not accept gifts, payments, or favors that might influence coverage.
- Maintain editorial independence from advertisers, donors, or political groups.
2.3 Be Accountable and Transparent
- Correct errors promptly and visibly.
- Invite constructive criticism and respond respectfully.
- Clearly distinguish between news, opinion, satire, and sponsored content.
2.4 Respect individual privacy, even of our enemies
- We will never dox someone. This means we will not reveal personal information beyond the bounds of responsible reporting/archiving.
- This means we will not reveal the following information:
- Home addresses or other addresses the individual frequents
- Phone numbers
- Personal IDs of the individual assigned by governments/employees/organizations
- Information related to friends, family, and associates of the individual except inasmuch as such information is not in violation of this policy regarding the second individual and such information is pertinent to an article or wiki entry
- As needed, we will reveal the following information:
- Social media accounts, particularly when reporting on an incident that involves said social media account or encouraging people to block said social media account for their own safety
- Real name along with any aliases (including trans names) as needed
- Inasmuch as it is pertinent to a story or a call to action (such as getting a teacher fired when it is revealed s/he is transing her students and keeping this secret from parents), we will reveal places of employment/positions of government offices/organizations/groups that the individual is involved in.
- This means we will not reveal the following information:
3. Sourcing and Verification
- Corroborate critical claims with at least two independent sources whenever possible.
- Do not publish rumors or unverified claims as fact.
- Protect the identity of confidential sources unless disclosure is legally or ethically required.
4. Privacy and Disclosure Policy
Wokebane is committed to responsible journalism and ethical public accountability. While we expose public misconduct and harmful ideologies, including those promoted by trans rights activists (TRAs), we hold ourselves to a higher standard than those we expose who engage in harassment, intimidation, or doxing.
This section outlines the boundaries we observe when publishing personal information.
4.1. Consent and Public Interest
- Articles may be published about individuals engaged in activism or public discourse without their consent, especially when their actions have potential consequences for public well-being or safety.
- Articles about victims of harassment or abuse will only be published with their consent (if the story is breaking) or when their consent can reasonably be inferred (e.g., they have spoken publicly about the issue). If the story is already in the news, we will assume consent and republish the story unless we discover they wish for the story not to spread (that is, our assumption will invert but we will never willingly spread a story about a victim who does not wish for it to be spread).
4.2. Information We May Publish About Public Activists
When an individual is acting as a public-facing activist or figure involved in controversial social movements, the following information may be published:
- Usernames and account handles
- Legal name
- Previous name(s)
- Nicknames or aliases
- Business names or affiliations
- General location (e.g., city, region, or country)
- Place of employment (especially if relevant to public concern)
- Age (approximate or stated)
4.3. Information We Will Not Publish
To protect against unnecessary harm or retaliation, we will not publish the following information (except IDs in extreme cases involving law enforcement, legal subpoenas, public corruption, or other justifiable cause):
- Exact residential addresses
- Phone numbers
- emails
- Birth dates
- Government-issued identifiers (e.g., SSNs, ID numbers)
- Information about family members not publicly involved
4.4. Special Consideration for Public Officials
Law enforcement officers, elected officials, and public employees acting in their professional capacity may be held to a higher standard due to their authority and accountability to the public. In such cases, redactions may be reconsidered in alignment with transparency and legal precedent.
4.4. Special Consideration for Minors
Minimal information will be posted about minors, defined as persons under 18 years of age to stay in line with U.S. federal age of majority recognition and the equivalent recognition in every U.S. state. For such persons, minimal disclosure will be practiced, such as withholding identifying information (names) and/or focusing on adults in the incident, even when other sources provide more information. This is a tendency, not a hard rule; If the minor has reached enough relevance in public consciousness, they may be named (such as Brianna Ghey). They may also be named if the minor has acted in a manner horrendous enough to be unacceptable even for a minor (such as Brianna’s killers).
5. Copyright and Fair Use
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and aim to comply with all applicable copyright laws.
We may reproduce copyrighted content—including tweets, public posts, or images—only when doing so qualifies as fair use, such as:
- Criticism or commentary
- News reporting
- Documentation of public behavior
- Parody or satire
Where possible, we will credit the original author.
If you believe your copyrighted content has been used improperly, please contact us at [email].
6. Corrections Policy
- Substantial factual errors will be acknowledged and corrected prominently.
- Minor corrections (e.g. spelling, dates) may be silently corrected, with transparency upon request.
- Users may report errors via [contact method].
7. Public Accountability
- We invite public engagement and commit to ongoing review of our ethical standards.
- Feedback can be submitted to [email/contact form].
- Serious ethical concerns may be reviewed by our internal standards committee.
8. Amendments to this Code
This Code may be updated as the organization evolves. Any major changes will be dated and noted at the top of the document.
