“Trans Rights are Human Rights” is a meaningless slogan uttered by trans activists to virtue signal to their group how tolerant they are (usually while shouting down women asking to not let male rapists into their bathrooms). It is what communication theorists call a “glittering generality.” It can also be considered as a thought-terminating cliche.
Counter Argument
Simply point out that this doesn’t mean anything because no one has defined what “trans rights” even are, and we as a society CERTAINLY haven’t AGREED to it. That is the REAL argument, not whether or not they are “human rights” (which is trivially true based on the reasonable assumption we are talking about trans people and not animals).
Most importantly, nothing follows from this.
- It does not follow from “trans rights are human rights” that men should be allowed to shower with women against their comfort.
- It does not follow from “trans rights are human rights” that we should allow children to be groomed into believing they are the opposite sex and their puberties blocked.
- It does not follow from “trans rights are human rights” that people who have gone through male puberty (men and male teenagers) should be allowed to compete in women’s and girls’ sports with no regard for fairness or safety.
- It does not follow from “trans rights are human rights” that the English language should be unilaterally deconstructed and put back together by a motivated minority against the consent of the majority.
- It does not follow from “trans rights are human rights” that children should be indoctrinated by schools to believe there are more than two genders, that “gender” is not a synonym for “sex”, and that one gets to choose their gender like choosing what shirt to wear.
