Overview
Giggle is a social-networking and discussion app created specifically for female users (biological females). It was launched by Australian entrepreneur Sall Grover, who positions it as a female-only digital space focused on privacy, safety, and community building. It appears as “Giggle for Girls” in some app stores.
Verification system
Giggle functions as a collection of topic-based “rooms” (forums) where women can talk, support each other, network, find roommates, discuss politics, etc. Its main selling point is that it excludes males, which the founder considers necessary for a safe female space. To keep the platform female-only, Giggle uses a facial-recognition gate. This system has been controversial—especially among males who identify as “women”—because the app rejects them as male.
Controversies
Giggle became widely known due to legal and cultural battles involving trans-identified males attempting to access the platform. Because the app bases access on sex, not identity, this led to international attention and a lawsuit in Australia.
